India’s premier fast bowler Bhunveshwar Kumar said the team will be confident before going into the World Cup. India is slowly but surely finding the missing pieces in the jigsaw. Ambati Rayudu has done well at the much talked about number four position. Furthermore, Khaleel Ahmed has been positive for the team. Ravindra Jadeja has come up with good performances to make a case for himself.
Therefore, there has been a healthy competition within the team and no one gets complacent with his position. Meanwhile, Bhunveshwar Kumar has done a fine job for the side. However, India’s premier fast bowler hasn’t looked at his best. Kumar has leaked runs and has also not been amongst the wickets.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar has lost his rhythm.
Kumar had suffered a back injury on the England tour and had to miss the whole Test series. He was also rested for the first two One-Dayers against the Windies. However, he has faded off since he has made a return to the game.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar said he was polishing his skills at the National Cricket Academy when he was rested.
“It is a good experience. I was rested for the first 2 ODIs so I had enough time to go back to NCA. I was trying to polish some balls such as knuckleballs and yorkers. Yes, everything is going according to the plan. Rayudu has done well at number 4. We have two tours remaining of Australia and New Zealand before the World Cup. Hopefully, we will do well in those two series and we will be confident going into the World Cup,” Kumar said after India clinched the series 3-1 against the Windies.
India is ticking the right boxes and they would want more from their lower order. MS Dhoni’s form is a concern and the middle order hasn’t received a lot of opportunities as the top order has done the bulk of the scoring.
Meanwhile, Bhuvneshwar Kumar will like to get back to his best as the English conditions will be conducive to his style of bowling as there would be swing on offer.
