Former Indian opening batsman Virender Sehwag said he will remember the clinical win of India against Windies for Prithvi Shaw debut. In fact, Sehwag said he will also remember this thumping win for Rishabh Pant’s fearlessness. Meanwhile, Prithvi Shaw was able to impress in his maiden outing in red ball version. Shaw scored his maiden Test hundred as he took the attack on the opposition.

Shaw was able to play with confidence as he ticked the right boxes. The young batsman showed a great technique in his first match. In fact, Shaw showed no signs of any nervousness in his knock.

Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant batted in the way he only knows. The combative batsman took the attack the Windies bowlers as he showed no mercy for them. In fact, Ravindra Jadeja also scored his maiden Test hundred whereas Kuldeep Yadav scalped his first five-wicket haul in Test cricket.

On the other hand, it was a dominating performance from the hosts. They had scored a mammoth score of 649 in the first innings. Subsequently, Windies were bundled out for a paltry score of 181 and 196 runs in both the innings.

Therefore, Windies collectively scored 377 runs in the whole match. Consequently, they were not able to get to follow-on score, which was 449 runs.

Furthermore, the tourists bundled in just 48 overs in the first innings whereas they batted for just 50.5 overs in the second dig. Thus, it was a dismal performance from the visitors as India completely showed sheer dominance.

The second Test match will take place at Hyderabad from 12 October. India will look to continue their assault on the Windies whereas the Carribean nation will look to show some fight.

Virender Sehwag took to Twitter to share his thoughts. His post read as, “That’s too easy a win. Batting twice, WI couldn’t cross the follow-on score. Will remember this for Shaw and Pant’s fearlessness”.

Here is Virender Sehwag post:

Cricket is my first love. I want to be a wordsmith. I want to weave magic with my words.
