Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to defer the announcement of the Test squad as a part of a well thought out strategy, a report in Mumbai Mirror suggests.

Meanwhile, it is likely that the announcement will be done after Indian’s final ODI at Leeds. The series is currently at 1-1 and both the teams will give their all to bring it home.

India comfortably won the first game while the host bounced back to win the second one by 86 runs at Lord’s. The series-decider at Lord’s will also give a clue about the possible title-contenders for the World Cup next year. England skipper, Eoin Morgan has rated the series win higher than retaining the top rank in the ICC ratings.

For India, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is likely to return which will solve India pace bowling worries. Indian seamer has leaked a lot of runs and especially in the death overs.

However, all eyes will be on Rohit Sharma and Kuldeep Yadav during the final ODI. They are likely to slot in the Test squad for the upcoming five-match series in England. The report suggests that the selectors have decided the team, however, has delayed the announcement but didn’t spill the reason.

We’ll announce it on Tuesday. It is a strategy,” the report quoted him saying.

The selectors want to have a final look on the duo before making the announcement. Kuldeep has been in mesmerising form in the limited-overs side and is a prime contender for a spot. He may replace Ravindra Jadeja, who was a mere passenger during the South Africa tour.

In conclusion, Karun Nair is also likely to retain his place following his good run for the India A side. The Test series commences on August 1.
