With the 2010s coming to an end, the International Cricket Council (ICC) asked fans to pick their favourite captain of the decade. The soon-to-end decade witnessed some great captains in the form of MS Dhoni, Michael Clarke, Brendon McCullum, Andrew Strauss, Kane Williamson as well as Virat Kohli. Clarke, Strauss and McCullum retired as true greats of the game.

Clarke led Australia to a famous 5-0 win over England in 2013-14 Ashes as well as the victory in the 2015 World Cup on home soil. McCullum, on the other hand, helped New Zealand make it to their first World Cup final. Strauss led England to the Ashes victory in Australia in 2010-11 as well as the number one Test rankings in 2011.

MS Dhoni, on the other hand, stepped down as Test captain in 2015 and ODI and T20I captain in 2017. He is one of the most decorated captains the game has ever witnessed. In this decade, he led India to triumphs in the 2011 World Cup and the 2013 Champions Trophy. Under him, India also made it to the semifinal of the 2015 World Cup and 2016 T20 World Cup as well as the final of 2014 T20 World Cup.
