The members of Indian cricket team have opposed the idea of playing a pink ball Test this year, a report on DNA suggests.

The Indian players feel that they will lose out on home advantage if they play with the pink ball in winters.

The Windies tour of India will start in the month of October – when the winter season knocks the doors in most parts of the country,

“If you play day/night Test, then the pitches need to have a bit of grass so that the pink ball doesn’t lose the seam early. And with dew also playing a big factor in India during winter, there is every possibility that the home team will lose out on home advantage. It is only going to hand the advantage to the visiting teams,” a source said as per a report in DNA.

Yesterday, the reports emerged that Ravi Shastri, the Head Coach of Indian cricket team, in reply to BCCI’s e-mail had written that pink ball Test is something which can be tested out.

BCCI was set to schedule the historic Test match against Windies, later this year.

However, COA jumped in between as its members were not in known of things.

Though, the last decision only lies in the hands of Indian players.

They have already shown a red flag to Shastri for the pink ball Test and it is highly unlikely that India will play the pink ball Test this year.

The chances of Indian team playing its first pink ball Test against Australia next year are even.

It is to be noted that many of the Indian players have an experience of playing with the pink ball in Duleep Trophy.

BCCI has organised previous two editions of Duleep Trophy with a pink ball, under lights.

India A have also played two unofficial Test matches with a pink ball.

However, Indian captain, Virat Kohli is yet to play with the pink ball game, which is one of the reasons why the team is also opposing the move.

In 2016, there were high chances of India playing pink ball Test against New Zealand but the idea was later scrapped.

India, though, is expected to make pink ball debut soon.
