Kuldeep Yadav was one of India’s worst performers when the Men in Blue suffered a shock loss at the hands of New Zealand in the first ODI on Wednesday. The Virat Kohli-led suffered posted a big total of 347 for 4 but still could not defend it. Kuldeep Yadav was the costliest Indian bowler, conceding 84 runs off his ten overs while picking up a couple of wickets.

It was the left-arm spinner’s costliest spell in his 60-match ODI career. But while the chinaman spinner is facing criticism from all around for his form, the reason behind his poor performance is not form but an injury.

According to Bangalore Mirror, the Indian team management in New Zealand is trying its best to hide a secret that is Kuldeep Yadav is carrying an injury in his left shoulder. The injury is hampering his bowling to a great extent. The report claimed that the spinner had been injured since the team landed in New Zealand some 20 days back.  He was so unfit to bowl that he could not be picked for the five-game T20I series.

The Indian team held two full practice sessions during the T20I series, one on January 23, a day before the first T20I at Auckland, and second at Hamilton on January 28, ahead of the third T20I, and Yadav didn’t bowl on both days. During one of these games, a commentator said on air that he has spoken to Yadav and has been informed that it will take him at least a week to start bowling.

The news outlet further reported that Yadav bowled for the first time in New Zealand on February 4, a day before the first ODI. Well, this is not the first time the Indian team-management has hidden injuries.

During the 2018-19 tour to Australia, they had carried an injured Ravindra Jadeja with them. They had also hid the injuries of the likes of R Ashwin, Umesh Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
