ToggleWhat an incredible last few series it has been for the Indian National Cricket Team. They have tastes success across the globe, especially, in the limited overs version of the game. Speaking of the same, the former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly believes that the current Indian attack is one of the best in the world cricket.
The ODI series against New Zealand was expected to be a stiff challenge for the Indian team, but the results in the first three ODIs have proved that it was a walk in the park for the visitors. They have convincingly knocked down Kiwis by bettering them in every department of the game.
Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma has been consistent – Sourav Ganguly
On IndiaTV’s show Cricket Ki Baat, Ganguly felt the performance has been better than the show they put up in Australia and it has been a ‘great year’ for the Men in Blue. Further, he lauded the efforts of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal as well.
“It’s been a better performance than Australia. It has been complete domination and it’s good to see them dominate at home and away as well. The confidence has been great and it’s quite impressive to see the bowlers get them out in 50 overs. It’s been a great year for India in ODIs,’ Ganguly told IndiaTV.
Kuldeep, Chahal was exceptional:
The Indian spinners, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal have been brilliant and they are the primary reasons why Kohli can afford to attack in the middle phase as they keep picking up wickets which have not allowed New Zealand to breathe easy.
“Kulcha have strangled the New Zealand batsman and overall the team has been excellent. Especially Rohit and Kohli, who have been so consistent, you don’t have such a top order in any other team in the world. India is ahead of other teams in ODI cricket. This might be one of the best World Cups we may witness.”
Indian batsmen can handle pressure:
Ganguly went on to shower praises on India’s top-order batsmen Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. He feels that the opposition need to put a massive total on the board when India was chasing the total, as he believes Rohit Sharma, Kohli and the other batsmen mastered to tackle the pressure.
“A team cannot defeat India if you’re putting on targets such as 200 or 250, the Indian batsman has shown the ability to chase down bigger targets. Whenever there is pressure, batsman like Rohit, Virat, Kedar or Dhoni responds with a six. They’ve learnt how to handle pressure.”
Well, it seems like Sourav Ganguly is pretty confident of ruling the roost in the upcoming few years to come. As he said, this could be the best team for Indian Cricket over the years that has no technical flaws attached to it.
