England Cricket team all-rounder Ben Stokes recently took a jibe at Indians while extending support to fellow teammate Ben Duckett after latter’s comment on Indian National Cricket team skipper Virat Kohli. Meanwhile, Kohli recently registered his 41st ODI hundred in the third ODI against Australia and broke a handful of records.

Kohli – a joke?

Meanwhile, chasing a massive target of 314 runs, Kohli played a classical knock of 123 from 95 balls – his back-to-back century against Australia – to keep India in the hunt before Adam Zampa bowled him at a crucial juncture. India chances faded away once he got out as they finished 32 runs short at Ranchi. During his knock, Virat Kohli added yet another feather to his illustrious cap. The talismanic runscorer became only the fourth Indian captain ever to score 4000 runs in ODIs. Virat Kohli joined the elite list which already has big names of MS Dhoni (6641), Mohammad Azharuddin (5239) and Sourav Ganguly (5104) ahead of him.

In the process, Kohli (63 innings) also surpassed South African superstar AB de Villiers (77 innings) to become the fastest player to score 4000 ODI runs as captain. The Indian skipper, who has made a habit of scoring hundreds, needed only 27 runs to reach the landmark. Virat Kohli reached the milestone with a gorgeous looking boundary. Soon after his knock, the cricketing fraternity stood tall to praise the Indian skipper. English cricketer Ben Duckett also praised the talismanic cricketer but in a different way.

The entire incident started after a Twitter account asked its followers to complete the sentence. “Virat Kohli is _______________.” To which Duckett replied, “A joke?…………………………”.

Soon after Duckett’s tweet, Indian cricket fans started trolling him as they misunderstood the humour behind it. Actually, Ben Duckett was praising Kohli’s batting and called him ‘a joke’ in a good way, only to get misunderstood by the netizens. Soon after the trolls started attacking the southpaw, Ben Stokes came in rescue of his teammate taking a sly dig at the Indian fans.
