Shardul Thakur’s 15 runs off just five balls in the first qualifier showed that he is no mug with the bat. The right-hander provided the fine finishing touch to the Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) innings against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)

However, it is not well known the same Thakur had smashed six maximums in an over. The incident took place in 2006 when then 15-year old Shardul was able to clear the fence on six occasions in an over.

The fast bowler had achieved the milestone in the Plate division Harris School tournament in Mumbai.

This is an Interesting stat:

Thakur had achieved the feat while playing for his school Swami Vivekanand against S Radhakrishnan School. The right-handed batsman clobbered spinner Vishal Dhruv over the cow corner for six times in an over.

Interestingly, Thakur went on to score 160 off just 73 balls in that match. The Mumbai fast bowler had smashed 10 sixes and 20 fours in his blistering knock. Thakur achieved the landmark on the second day of the game.

Meanwhile, Thakur has scalped 15 wickets in the 12 matches he has played for the Chennai Super Kings in this season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Thakur is known to clock consistent speed above the 140 kph. The Mumbai fast bowler has shown an upward swing in his improvement graph.

However, he is a touch expensive in his bowling. Thus, he would like to hold a tighter grip on the proceedings. The CSK fast bowler has subsequently leaked runs at an economy of 9.16.

In fact, Shardul Thakur was confident of his batting abilities in the first qualifier against Sunrisers. Eventually, we have now known the reason for his confidence.
