The upcoming auction of the Indian Premier League is going to be a mega one and the biggest one since the inaugural season in 2008. With contracts of majority of the players expired, most of the players will go under the hammer next season while only time will tell how many players the franchises will be allowed to retain.

According to media reports, as of now only two franchises have voted in favour of an open auction for IPL 2018 while the IPL governing council is yet to make a decision. Reports are also suggesting that the franchises will be allowed to retain three players and so we are taking a look at the 3 players that Royal Challengers Bangalore would like to retain:

1. Virat Kohli:

If there is one player which every team wants to have at the moment then it has to be Virat Kohli. Currently the number one T20I and ODI batsman, Kohli has been with Royal Challengers Bangalore since the inaugural season, rising up the ranks an an uncertain starter to the skipper. The India skipper, who is the only batsman in the world with 50-plus averages in ODIs and T20Is, has scored more than 300 runs since the third edition of the league in 2010 and the franchise would be desperate to retain him.

2. AB de Villiers:

Another prized asset in the game, de Villiers is another player which every team will like to have in its own side. Arguably the most destructive batsman in the world cricket at the moment, de Villiers has been the lynchpin of Royal Challengers’ batting since joining the franchise in 2011.

3. Yuzvendra Chahal:

Chahal has become Virat Kohli’s go-to man not only in IPL but also in Indian team. Chahal’s ability to bowl at every stage of the game without conceding much in addition to picking up wickets makes him a big asset in the shortest format of the game and the franchise would be definitely looking to retain him.
