For the first time in the history of Indian Premier League, we will be witnessing a mid-season transfer which was slated to start from yesterday (Sunday).

It will surely make the competition much more intense. The excitement will reach a whole new level. Like the concept of football, players can swipe sides in the middle of the season. The IPL governing council has considered the idea.

The mid-season transfer will provide the opportunity to the uncapped player to make the switch. It will also offer an opportunity to players who had a torrid time on the pitch or have warmed the benches mainly due to the competition of making it to the Playing XI.

Hence, they can go for the different franchise to get some real match time. Even in the case of clubs escalating with injuries, they might also look for new options.

With the tournament set to undergo their first ever mid-season transfer which was likely to start yesterday, it proves that innovation is the only way forward. The Indian Premier League has always provided great opportunities to youngsters. The tournament has always set a benchmark for other tournaments.

With the mid-season transfer, fans will be pretty interested and will look to see their favourite players get some real match time.

Rules of the mid-season transfer

Uncapped players or those who have played two or less than two matches so for their respective franchises till the halfway mark of IPL 2018 is eligible for transfer.

It will open from Match No 28 and will continue until Match No 42 (9 April 29- 10th May). It will allow the concerned authorities to negotiate with the players.

As per reports in the Mid-Day, Rajeev Shukla, the head of the Indian Premier League has confirmed that the mid-season will be consolidated in the IPL this time around.

Some of the players who will be targeted by the other franchises include the likes of Alex Hales, JP Duminy, Ish Sodhi, Moeen Ali and quite a few others will be on the radar of other franchises.
