After a fierce bidding war, England all-rounder Ben Stokes, who became the costliest overseas player last year, was bought by Rajasthan Royals for a whopping amount of Rs 12.5 crore.

Stokes was bought by Rising Pune Supergiant for a staggering 14.5 crores last year and had gone on to justify his huge price tag. With an average of 31.60 with the bat and scalping 12 wickets, the ace allrounder was named the 2017 IPL Player of the tournament.

Meanwhile, it is still not guaranteed whether Stokes would be able to ply his trade or not due to the legal proceedings concerning the charge of affray against him imposed by the Crown Prosecution Service. However, the franchise will be allowed to sign a replacement in case the ace allrounder misses the whole tournament.
