India batsman, Dinesh Karthik, bagged a huge amount of Rs 7.4 in the IPL 2018 auction. Karthik’s base price was Rs 2 Crore, and he saw an increase of Rs 5.4 Crore in his price.

Him going at such a huge price comes as a big surprise as in the last auction in 2016, Karthik went to Gujarat Lions for just Rs 2.3 Crore, but this time, he saw a surge in his price. During his two seasons stint with Gujarat Lions, Karthik scored 696 runs.

Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders went behind Karthik, and in the end, it was Kolkata Knight Riders that went past bought Karthik.

Before Karthik, Wirddhiman Saha bagged an amount of Rs 5 Crore as he was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad whereas Parthiv Patel, the first name on the wicketkeepers list, went unsold.

Karthik recently made his comeback in the India Test side after a period of eight years when he was called as a replacement for an injured Wriddhiman Saha.
