Windies opener, Evin Lewis, bagged his first IPL contract and was purchased by Mumbai Indians for an amount of Rs 3.8 Crore. Lewis, interestingly, went unsold in the last year’s auction despite doing well in T20 format. He was not affected by it and went on to raise his base price to Rs 1.5 Crore this year from Rs 50 Lakh.

In IPL 216, he made a century against India in a T20I game that did not help his case but he again drew limelight when in a T20I against India, he pipped Chris Gayle and went on to score a century, again. Franchises took notice of him this time and he got his first IPL contract.

Lewis was also the highest run-scorer in T20I cricket in 2017 and scored 357 runs in 9 games at a strike-rate of 154.54.

After Lewis, it was Saurabh Tiwary who also went to Mumbai Indians for an amount of Rs 80 Lakh. Last year too, Saurabh was a part of the same team.
