Indian Premier League (IPL 2018) is home to many new things in the cash-rich league. The return of former teams Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) had already paid dividends to the league this season.

On the other hand, the introduction of Decision Review System (DRS) for the first time, has helped the league with a new attribute. One more important aspect that the IPL Governing Council had put forward is the mid-season transfer window.

This transfer window will facilitate franchises to exchange or buy/sell players to other teams.

However, there is a specified criterion about the players who are eligible for transfers in mid-season.

Well, despite this new change being implemented for the first time, the franchise owners expect minimal movements between teams this season, according to a report from indiantelevision.com.

An owner was quoted, saying: “At least this season, I don’t think anything like this is going to happen. Why would somebody want to loan the players out when you know he is going to be a part of all your important strategic meetings and knows how the team is going to play.”

The transfer window is already open between Matches 28 to 42 (April 29 to May 10).  It is more like the current transfer window that is present in football will not take place.

Delhi Daredevils (DD) owner Hemant Dua also expressed his thoughts saying:

“It will become effective only when you have a lot more players sitting on the bench whether it is international or Indian, capped or uncapped players. It’s a good move in that direction but it needs more wings. There might not be a lot that will happen this year but if more players are added in the future then it will probably work.”

IPL 2018 Raising The Bar:

The current eleventh season of IPL is definitely increasing the expectations of the fans. Both the broadcasters and the governing council have come up with innovative ideas.

IPL is expanding at rapid pace. The fan parks are growing and the number of fans watching the league is growing.

With an extended fan base, this season has already raised the bar for the upcoming seasons.
