IPL 2018: Kings XI Punjab requests BCCI to reschedule couple of their home matches

In recent developments from IPL, Kings XI Punjab requested BCCI to reschedule a couple of their home matches in the upcoming edition of the tournament. The plea came in the aftermath of maintenance work in Chandigarh Airport between May 12 and 31.

Due to this, the Airport will remain closed and thus, will affect the games. BCCI confirmed about receiving a formal request from Punjab Cricket Association (PCA), regarding the rescheduling of the two matches.

The Mohali-based franchise will host Kolkata Knight Riders on May 12 followed by Royal Challengers Bangalore on May 12. KXIP is the only team this season to play its home matches at a neutral venue. The two matches would be affected with the Airport shut-down.

“We have received a request from PCA and IPL’s governing council will surely look into it because this is a genuine problem,” stated the Acting President of BCCI, CK Khanna according to TOI.

Kings XI Punjab plays four matches at IS Bindra Stadium at Mohali and rest of the home games at Holkar Stadium, Indore. There remains a possibility that a couple of home games in question might be shifted to Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.

“There could be efforts to schedule a match or two in Lucknow,” said a source close to IPL Governing Council. KXIP then would be the only team to play its home matches in three different venues.

Furthermore, Preity Zinta’s franchise has revamped their side with few exciting buys this season. Also, hometown lad Yuvraj Singh makes a comeback to his original franchise where he enjoyed captaincy in the first three seasons of IPL.

However, this time around, KXIP went all out to attain the services of Karnataka batsman KL Rahul in their ranks. Also, the Virender Sehwag mentored side designated Ravichandran Ashwin as their captain for the upcoming seasons
