IPL 2018: Lesser-known players to set the T20 stage on fire

With the eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) little-over month away- it has plenty on offer. The IPL 2018 will kick off on April 7 at iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

The passion of players will be under the spotlight. Moreover, the marquee players are further ready to enthrall the crowd owing to their respective traits.

Many players in the domestic fold are bound to watch the matches off the field after going unsold. And such is the frenzy created by the domestic professional leagues, of late.

In the two-day long mega-auction, 113 cricketers from India joined the distinct teams on January 27 and 28 in Bengaluru.

Moreover, there are players to entertain the large crowds. The spectators could further witness the plenty of records being set in the impending edition.

However, there have been many who missed out the sold list. The domestic performers included Jalal Saxena, Hanuma Vihari, R Samarth alongside Swapnil Singh failed to impress the eight franchises.

“You still play these matches. It’s tough, but I am doing my best to keep fit and prepare for the next season,” Saxena told Indian Express.

Pertinently the league has also thrown a couple of surprises on the plate which saw the fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat fetched INR 11.5 crore.

Unadkat featured for Rising Pune Supergiant(s) before being picked by Rajasthan Royals, which is returning after two-year exile after 2013 IPL spot-fixing scandal.

Apart from not making it to the lucrative fold it certainly turns to be painful for such youngsters who have had worked hard to make it big.

Saxena, who is concurrently participating in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL). He expressed dejection after missing out a major chance.

“I don’t know what more I have to do,” Saxena said.

However, many cricketers missed out this IPL 2018 season including big guns.

The two players, in a nutshell, include lanky pacer Ishant Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara.

“I play in the Chennai league and all kinds of local tournaments. It’s not easy to play such tournaments in the summer, when you see that everybody is busy with IPL,” Saxena added.

While leading Andhra Pradesh is looking forward to playing cricket in the United Kingdom. He is right up for the challenge.

“Not getting an IPL contract is not the end of road. I may go to the UK to play club cricket, which is just one rung below county cricket,” Vihari asserts.

On the other side, the players have done tremendously well and have failed to seal the deal. However, IPL is the benchmark in the domestic fold. The young players have been rubbing shoulders with top-notch cricketers.

The youngsters have pinned their hopes for the next edition.
