Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB( won the toss and decided to field first against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the thirty-ninth match of the Indian Premier League at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.

Here is what the captains said:

Virat Kohli: We will bowl first. It’s all about restricting the team, the teams chasing have always done well. The bowling was good in the last couple of games, we just need to support them in the field. The batting has been good, with 175-180 been the average score. We have got two changes, Manan Vohra replaces Murugan Ashwin, Moeen Ali replaces Brendon McCullum.

Kane Williamson: We would have looked to bowl first, but I think the wicket will stay good. We are playing the same XI.

Preview:

The mood in both the camps are exactly opposite. While a win will all but seal Sunrisers Hyderabad’s spot in the playoffs, a defeat can bring a premature end to Royal Challengers’ season.

The Sunrisers are currently at the top of the table with seven wins in nine games. On the other hand, the Royal Challengers are languishing at sixth with three wins in nine games.

The reason behind the contrasting positions of the two teams is pretty much down to their bowling. While Sunrisers’ bowlers have done exceedingly well, their Royal Challengers counterparts have failed to rise to the occasions.

As far as the batting is concerned, both the teams are yet to perform consistently with the bat.

With so much at stake in the game for the Royal Challengers, they would be desperate to up the ante in the upcoming game.

On the other hand, the hosts will be looking to seal the playoff spot with a win in this game.
