Mumbai Indians continued their domination over Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League with a thumping 102-run win at the Eden Gardens. Asked to bat first, the defending champions posted a massive 210 for 6 in the allotted 20 overs. Ishan Kishan starred with the bat, scoring 62 off just 21 balls. Ben Cutting then provided the finishing touched by scoring 24 off 9.

In reply, the Knight Riders never looked in contention to chase down the total. They kept on losing wickets at regular intervals and were eventually folded up for just 108.

With the game now all done and dusted, here is a look at some interesting numbers and stats:

1. This was Mumbai Indians’ eighth consecutive win over Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League. It is the joint longest winning-streak for any side against any particular opposition.  Knight Riders had previously defeated Kings XI Punjab in eight consecutive matches. Royal Challengers Bangalore had also won eight consecutive IPL matches against Delhi Daredevils.

2. Rohit Sharma became the third captain after MS Dhoni (90) and Gautam Gambhir (71) to win 50 matches in the IPL.

3. Ishan Kishan took just 17 balls to reach the 50-run mark. It was the joint fastest fifty ever by a Mumbai Indians player in the IPL. Kieron Pollard had scored a 17-ball fifty against the same opposition at the Wankhede in 2016.

4. The game was Rohit Sharma‘s 100th Twenty20 game as captain. He is now the 9th player and the 4th Indian to have played 100 T20 matches as captain. Interestingly, he had made his T20 captaincy debut against the Knight Riders as well.

5.  Mumbai Indians’ total of 210 for 6 in this match is the highest IPL total at the Eden Gardens. The previous highest was 204/2 by Kings XI Punjab in the 2010 edition.

6. The 102-run defeat is Knight Riders’ first 100-run defeat in the IPL. Their previous biggest defeat was by 92 runs which also came against Mumbai in 2009.

7. Knight Riders’ total of 108 is their lowest total in the IPL at the Eden Gardens. They were bowled out for 109 by the Chennai Super Kings in 2010.

8. Piyush Chawla has now bowled 1,002 dot balls in the IPL. He became the 4th player and the first leg-spinner to bowl 1000 dot balls in the IPL.
