Delhi Daredevils got back to winning ways with an impressive 34-run win over high-flying Chennai Super Kings. Asked to bat first, the Daredevils posted 162 for 5. At one stage, they found themselves reeling at 97 for 5.

At that time, the 150-run mark looked like a distant dream. However, they managed to cross the 150-run mark only because of Vijay Shankar and Harshal Patel’s unbeaten knocks. The duo stitched an unbeaten stand of 65 runs to help the Daredevils post a respectable total. Vijay Shankar scored 36 off 28 balls while Patel scored as many off just 16 balls.

In reply, the Super Kings never looked at ease during the chase as the required-rate kept on mounting. Ambati Rayudu scored a fifty to lay the foundation but it eventually went in vain as the Super Kings were restricted to 128 for 6.

With the game now done and dusted, here is a look at some interesting numbers and stats:

1. The game saw only three overseas players in Daredevils’ playing eleven. This was only the third instance when the Daredevils fielded only three foreigners in an IPL game. They had only three overseas players in their last two matches of the 2017 edition. They are now the first team to achieve such a feat.

2. The win was Daredevils’ second victory over the Super Kings at the Feroz Shah Kotla. The Super Kings defeated the Daredevils in Delhi on four occasions in the IPL. Delhi’s first and only win over the Super Kings till yesterday had come way back in 2012.

3. The 34-run loss is Super Kings’ fifth biggest defeat in terms of runs in the IPL. This is also their second biggest defeat while chasing a total under 170 in the IPL. They lost to Mumbai Indians by 60 runs while chasing a 139-run target.

4.  Rishabh Pant has now scored 620 runs this season. The run-tally is the most in an IPL edition for a left-handed Indian batsman. He went past Gautam Gambhir’s 2012 aggregate of 590 runs for the Kolkata Knight Riders. Pant also became the first player to score 600 runs in an IPL season for Daredevils.

5. MS Dhoni has now scored 6,007 runs in T20. It has made him the fifth Indian to cross the 6,000-run mark in the shortest format of the game.

195 – Dhoni was dismissed first time in six innings after scoring 195 runs in this IPL. The last time Dhoni got out this season was in the game against Mumbai Indians in Pune where he scored 26 runs.

6. Ambati Rayudu completed 3000 runs in the IPL with his 50-run knock and became the 15th player to achieve the milestone.
