Chennai Super Kings won the toss and decided to field first against Kings XI Punjab in the fifty-sixth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium, Pune on Sunday (May 20) evening.

Preview:

The last league game for both the teams hold a lot of importance for either of them. A win will seal the top-two spot in the points table for the Super Kings which will give them two chances to make it to the final.

Moreover, Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s men will be keen to enter the playoffs with a winning note. The Super Kings are entering the game after suffering a 34-run defeat at the hands of Delhi Daredevils (DD) in their last game at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium.

On the other hand, Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) will have to win the contest at any cost to remain in content for the playoffs.

With three teams vying for one available playoff spot, Kings XI’s poor Net Run-Rate might hamper their chances.  It would take something special for them to overtake resurgent Rajasthan Royals (RR). But even if they do, they will still be out of the competition if Mumbai manages to win their final league game.

So, not only a win but Kings XI also need plenty of luck to advance to the next stage.
