Delhi Daredevils (DD), on Sunday, beat Mumbai Indians by 11 runs in a thrilling encounter to dump the defending champions out of the competition. Batting first, the Shreyas Iyer-led side rode on an in-form Rishabh Pant’s fifty. The hosts posted a challenging 174 for four in the allotted 20 overs.

In reply, Mumbai made a heavy weather of the chase, losing wickets at regular intervals. They were eventually all out for 163.

With the game now done and dusted, here is a look at some interesting numbers and stats:

1. This was only the fourth time, Mumbai Indians could not make it to the playoffs in the eleven season of the IPL.

Prior to this season, the three-time IPL winners failed to make it to the last four in 2008, 2009 and 2016 respectively.

2. This was Indians’ eleventh loss against Daredevils in the IPL – the second most they lost to an opponent in the IPL. They have lost 12 times against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

3. Glenn Maxwell finished the season with a poor batting average of 14.08.

The Australian’s average is the lowest for a batsman in IPL 2018 (min 100 runs and five innings played).

4. Rishabh Pant finished the season with 684 runs to his name. The southpaw’s run-tally is the seventh most by a player in a single edition of IPL.

The record of most runs in a season is held by Virat Kohli, who had scored a staggering 973 runs in 2016.

The previous lowest was 333 runs he had scored last year (2017).
