After a fierce bidding war, Australia pace spearhead  Mitchell Starc was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs  9.4 crore.

The World Cup-winning star, who recently starred for Australia in the 4-0 Ashes triumph, was one of the hottest properties in the auction and not surprisingly the franchises went all out for him. Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab relentlessly went neck to neck for the left-arm pacer before the Punjab-based outfit pulled out of the race at 9.2 crores. The Kolkata-based outfit then raised one more bid and secured his services for 9.4 Cr.

Starc was a part of Royal Challengers Bangalore squad last season but had pulled out due to injuries.
