Leg-spinner Pradeep Sahu, who is yet to make his debut in this edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is likely to replace injured Mujeeb Ur Rahman against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Holkar Stadium on May 14 (Monday).

Meanwhile, Punjab will receive a huge blow as Mujeeb has done consistently well for them. So far, he has claimed 14 wickets from 11 games and has contained runs in the middle-overs.

The teenager in the form of Mujeeb sustained an injury during the last match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). He was hit on the hand by Sunil Narine and left the field with severe pain. However, it is still not clear if he has fully recovered from the blow.

The incident had occurred in the fourth over of the innings when Narine slammed one straight to Mujeeb. In the process of grabbing the ball of his own bowling, Mujeeb got severely injured.

 Pradeep to replace Mujeeb

The veteran leg-spinner is likely to replace Mujeeb in the playing XI. Sao far, he has warmed the benches and was hoping for an opportunity.

However, he will be keen to make an early mark and justify his selection. The 32-year-old cricketer from Haryana has plenty of experiences behind his back and has previously represented Punjab.

Sahu so far has played only five games claiming three wickets. This will be a massive opportunity for him to present his case in front of the selectors.

Recently, Ravichandran Ashwin-led Mohali-based outfit has had struggled in a previous couple of games. The hosts would be aiming to give an all-round performance while eyeing for playoffs berth.
