Ravindra Jadeja was having a poor Indian Premier League this term before Chennai Super Kings took on Royal Challengers Bangalore on Saturday (May 5).

Before the aforementioned game, the allrounder had scored only 59 runs in 9 games. His performance with the ball was equally poor as he could take only 3 wickets. The lapses in the field only made the season worse for him.

But despite his modest returns with both bat and ball, the Super Kings retained him in the playing eleven. And the Saurashtra star proved his worth in gold against Royal Challengers, blowing away the Virat Kohli-led side with a stunning bowling display. He took 3 wickets for just 18 runs to help Super Kings restrict the Royal Challengers to 127 for 9.

The pick of the lot was the wicket of Kohli. The left-arm spinner castled his India skipper to open the floodgates as Royal Challengers never recovered from that setback. Later in the innings, he dismissed in-form Mandeep Singh and the dangerous Parthiv Patel who was batting on 53.

Jadeja first dismissed Kohli in 2009 while playing for Rajasthan Royals. Kohli had scored 15 off 22 at the Super Sport Park before being sent back by the spinner. The second instance was witnessed in Ranchi in 2014 when Jadeja had Kohli while playing for the Super Kings.

Meanwhile, Mitchell McClenaghan holds the record of dismissing Kohli the most number of times in the IPL. The kiwi pacer has dismissed the Indian batting star on four occasions.
