Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) head coach, Tom Moody has admitted Kane Williamson‘s performance hasn’t surprised him stating he has been a good T20 player for some years now.

Meanwhile, Williamson has led SRH from the front and has performed throughout the tournament. So far, he has amassed 493 runs in 11 games with the highest score of 84. He is the leading run-scorer for his side and will have to carry this form in the business end of the league.

Moreover, Hyderabad is the first team to book a place in the playoff. As a result, they will look to test their bench strength against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on May 13.

Moody not surprised with Williamson

Talking to the media before their game against CSK, Moody revealed the Williamson has been going well in the T20s over the years.

To be honest it has not been a surprise to us. Kane (Williamson) has been a good T20 player for a number of years. It is really an opportunity for people watching to see the versatility in Kane Williamson,” Moody said.

Moody showered heaps of praises on his skipper talking highly about his adaptability skills.

He has got a T20 hundred, I think about four years ago in the Champions League. It is no surprise to us that Kane has the ability to adapt from Test cricket to 50-over cricket, down to T20 cricket. That is why we bought him four years ago,” he added.

Eyeing a top two finish

The former Australia cricketer also they will not make any experiments looking forward. They are eyeing the top two spot and looking to continue with the momentum.

We will not be looking to make any sort of experiments moving forward. To us, it is about looking for constant improvement. We are looking to play our best XI on any given day. The team ideally want to finish on top two, we have still got some unfinished business there. We still see this as an opportunity and you know, momentum is important in this format. Ideally, we would like to keep the winning momentum,” Moody concluded.

However, despite missing some of their stalwarts, Hyderabad has presented a brilliant display of cricket and will look to continue doing so.
