IPL 2019 Auctions: Sunrisers Hyderabad Picks Martin Guptill At A Base Price

Well, right at the end of the auctions, Sunrisers Hyderabad came up with the smartest pick by buying the services of Martin Guptill for IPL 2019. He will be joining his Kiwis skipper Kane Williamson in the SRH camp under the guidance of VVS Laxman. He was picked for his base price for INR 1.00 Crores.
As far as the availability and skills are concerned, Martin Guptill was a solid pick for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Martin Guptill will be available for the whole tournament, as New Zealand granted the permission for their players despite the ICC World Cup 2019 around the corner.
Martin Guptill was sold for his base price to Sunrisers Hyderabad:
Initially, Martin Guptill was ignored by all the franchises at the start of the auctions. However, he was called in the second round, where VVS Laxman-panel raised their wand to bag his services. Interestingly, none of the franchises went in a bidding war for him.
Guptill has always been a fantastic player, who can turn the tables with his majestic knocks. He is one of the few players to register a double century in One Day Internationals and got the knack of scoring runs against Spinners as well.
Martin Guptill was the third player for Sunrisers to bag in the auction pool. Earlier, they pocketed Jonny Bairstow of England and Wriddhiman Saha for INR 2.20 and INR 1.20 respectively. Saha was the part of the earlier edition as well for Sunrisers but this time, they got him for a cheaper price.
After bagging New Zealand opener, Sunrisers are left with 5.30 Crores. Now, they are 23-member strong squad with all the required bases being covered.
