IPL 2019: Delhi Daredevils Could Release Jason Roy, Glenn Maxwell, Chris Morris

Delhi Daredevils could release its three players in Glenn Maxwell, Chris Morris, and Jason Roy, as per a report in Mumbai Mirror. All these overseas players had failed to live up to the expectations in the previous season of the Indian Premier League. Glenn Maxwell was bought for INR 9 crores whereas Chris Morris was retained by Delhi Daredevils for INR 11 crores. In fact, the South African all-rounder Morris had pulled out of the tournament in the middle stages.

Subsequently, the Proteas player was replaced by his national teammate, Junior Dala. Meanwhile, Jason Roy was bought at his base price of INR 1.5 crore. The England right-handed opener played a fine knock against Mumbai Indians in the early stages. However, he was not able to repeat the same magic in the remaining matches.

Delhi Daredevils is likely to release Gautam Gambhir.

Meanwhile, ahead of the Indian Premier League 2019 auction, Delhi Daredevils is also likely to release their former skipper Gautam Gambhir. The southpaw opener could only score 80 odd runs in the first five matches and then decided to step down from the captaincy role. Shreyas Iyer was then handed over the captaincy reins for Delhi Daredevils.

Gautam Gambhir also didn’t play any matches after he stepped down from the leadership role. Meanwhile, Delhi Daredevils is yet to savour success in the Indian Premier League folklore. Thus, the Delhi franchise would like to turn the tables in the forthcoming season.

“I never dropped myself from the playing XI. If that was the case, then I would’ve announced the retirement as well. A lot of cricket is still left in me,” Gambhir had told ABP news.

Delhi Daredevils hasn’t come up with goods in the Indian Premier League. Thus, the franchise will look to be smart in the upcoming auctions. The auctions will take place in Jaipur on December 16.
