Andre Russell has been Kolkata Knight Riders’ most dependable batsman in the ongoing season so far. The hard-hitting allrounder has delivered for the franchise in all the five matches he has batted thus far while walking away with the Man of the Match awards in three of those games. Russell has not terrorised bowlers with his unbelievable hitting but have also showed he can bail the team out of trouble by digging in with the laborious fifty against Chennai Super Kings.

In 7 outings so far, Andre Russell has amassed 312 runs from just 146 balls with a stunning strike-rate of 213.69. In just 7 innings, he has hit a staggering 30 sixes, taking almost all the bowlers to the cleaners. But Russell is now doubtful for Knight Riders’ upcoming clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Friday. The West Indian had received a nasty blow on his neck while facing a bouncer during a training session and could very well miss the upcoming game.
The last time Knight Riders had played against Royal Challengers, Russell had walked away with the Man of the Match award. Chasing 206, the Knight Riders needed an improbable 53 from the last three overs. Russell had then slammed 48 from just 13 deliveries, helping Knight Riders cross the finishing line with 5 balls to spare. No surprises then that the two-time winners will be desperate to have him in the playing eleven.
However, things are not looking promising at the moment. Knight Riders skipper Dinesh Karthik did not divulge much information on the injury but revealed that allrounder had gone for a x-ray test. At the same time, he also refrained from saying that the allrounder is fully fit.
“He went for a preliminary x-ray yesterday. To be fair, it has not even been 24 hours since the incident. We are monitoring him,” Karthik was quoted as saying in one of Knight Riders’ official tweet.
The Knight Riders, meanwhile, have lost their last three games and will be desperate to get back to winning ways.
