The skipper of South Africa, who is also the part of Chennai Super Kings, Faf du Plessis expressed his concern, as IPL 2019 is happening ahead of ICC World Cup 2019. South African board has accepted to keep their players in the tournament for the whole season. Meanwhile, the captain feels it would add a burden on Proteas fast bowlers.

With Australia and England players walking back from the middle of the tournament, South African and New Zealand bowlers need to take the responsibility of overseas slots for their respective franchises.

The last thing you want is an injury to the fast bowler – Faf du Plessis

Faf du Plessis wants his bowlers to take care of the injuries in Indian Premier League 2019, which is scheduled ahead of ICC World Cup 2019. South Africa got the stunning unit with Lungi Ngidi, Rabada in their ranks.

Faf du Plessis can look after Lungi Ngidi and Imran Tahir, who plays for Chennai Super Kings. Meanwhile, Chris Morris and Rabada are the other two important players, who play for Delhi Daredevils. As a blessing in disguise, Dale Steyn went unsold.

“The obvious one for me is the IPL,” du Plessis said. “The IPL is just before the World Cup, and the last thing you want is one of your bowlers getting injured just before the tournament. That’s something that’s a concern for us, seeing how we can play that scenario out best,” Faf du Plessis quoted.

“With Dale [Steyn], or KG [Rabada] or any other bowlers, in terms of workload, the World Cup is still quite a while away. Probably you’ll see that closer to the World Cup we’ll think about stuff like [managing workloads],” he added while speaking to ESPN Cricinfo.

Well, it would be interesting to see how things would pan out for South African fast bowlers. Most probably, they will be given additional responsibility, as they will be available throughout the tournament.
