IPL 2019: Former Auctioneer Richard Madley Shares "Rare Memorabilia"

Former Auctioneer Richard Madley shared rare memorabilia of Indian Premier League maiden auction in the tournament. Madley shared a sheet in which MS Dhoni was sold to Chennai Super Kings for the whopping price of $1.5 million. Subsequently, the rest is history. In fact, there is a well-known story that N Srinivasan who is the founder of the Chennai Super Kings wanted MS Dhoni to lead his team at any cost.

Subsequently, MS Dhoni went on to lead the franchise with aplomb. Dhoni is one of the most successful captains in the league. Chennai has lifted the title on three occasions and he will seek his fourth title when they will take Mumbai Indians in the final of the league. Dhoni had led Chennai to glory in 2010, 2011 and 2019.

In fact, this is the fourth time when Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians will take on each other in the final of the tournament. Mumbai has won on two occasions whereas Chennai has won once.

On the other hand, MS Dhoni has been in fine form in the recent past. Dhoni had struggled to get going in 2018 however he has turned the tables in 2019. The talisman has scored 404 runs in 11 innings at an average of 103.50. Thus, Dhoni will like to bring his best to the table in the final of the tournament.

Chennai Super Kings won against Delhi Capitals in the second qualifier by six wickets and would like to create history. However, Mumbai Indians have won all the three matches against Chennai Super Kings earlier in the competition.

Meanwhile, Richard Madley was not the auctioneer in IPL 2019 auctions. Hugh Edmeades had presented the auction.

Richard Madley took to his Twitter account to the share memorabilia. The post read as, “Just found my one and only auction sheet for the historic first ever #VIVOIPL auction in 2008.
