IPL 2019: I am Not Sure Mumbai Indians Would Rest Jasprit Bumrah - Sourav Ganguly

Well, of late, a lot of news is being circulated that the major players of each team will be rested for the bilateral series with ICC World Cup 2019 is on its way. Especially, in India, the analysts and Co wants India to take care of Jasprit Bumrah, who is in ominous form before going into the ICC World Cup. Meanwhile, the former skipper Sourav Ganguly isn’t impressed with those calls and also spoke on Bumrah availability for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2019.

Jasprit Bumrah was given rest against Windies series and there are reports that BCCI is asking Mumbai Indians to give enough rest to Jasprit Bumrah during the course of Indian Premier League 2019.

The stylish southpaw quoted that there is no requirement of Bumrah being rested ahead of ICC World Cup 2019. He feels that Bumrah is a youngster unlike Kapil Dev, who played 125 Tests to his name.

Further, he also believes that Mumbai Indians won’t compromise in resting Jasprit Bumrah during the IPL event. He also termed that the call to pick Jasprit Bumrah for New Zealand series is the right one from selectors.

“There is no doubt that he is an exceptional talent. But I saw news of him being rested keeping in mind the World Cup. I don’t think that should be followed in its entirety. He is not a Kapil Dev who played 125 Tests. He is young and raring to go,” Sourav Ganguly quoted.

”So we should definitely play him against New Zealand at least as they are a strong side, unlike the current hosts. And I’m not sure that Mumbai Indians would be willing to rest him at the marquee tournament,” he added while speaking to India TV.

Well, as Sourav Ganguly said, Mumbai Indians might not risk themselves by accepting to rest Jasprit Bumrah. However, it would be intriguing to see how things would pan out in an upcoming couple of months for the number one ranked bowler.
