Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) all-rounder Moeen Ali has had a good time in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). However, he will leave after Bangalore’s match against Kings XI Punjab to resume his national duties. England are due to play Ireland and Pakistan before the start of the ICC World Cup 2019. Ali said it is disheartening to leave the tournament midway, more so when the team have picked the momentum and have a slight chance to qualify for the playoffs.

Moeen Ali has played his part despite his team not getting the desired result from the start of the tournament. So far, he has scored 216 runs at an average of touch above 26 and has picked five wickets with the ball. Ahead of his last game this season, the English cricketer is confident of finishing on a positive note. Speaking to the media on the eve of the match, Ali admitted that he is not happy to leave the tournament when the side has picked the momentum. He is also hopeful that his team will win the rest of the games to give themselves a chance of qualifying.

It’s not ideal, obviously. I think it’s worse when there’re three games to go, that there’s not much cricket left and you always think, ‘I could’ve played those three games.’ If there were six, seven games, it was a little more understandable,” Ali said.

I can also score like Kohli and ABD: Moeen

Moreover, Moeen Ali showed a lot of confidence in his batting and said that he could also score runs like Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. The England cricketer also added that he has the ability to win games single-handedly just like the two talismanic batters.

Ab de Villiers, Virat Kohli

I think it gives a lot of confidence if Virat and AB don’t score, or if one of them doesn’t play like AB didn’t against KKR, we could still score 200-plus. I have the confidence in my own game and believe that I can also score runs just as quickly as them and take games away from the opposition. It won’t always happen but I know I can do that,” he concluded.

Royal Challengers Bangalore are currently in the last spot with six points. They need to win all their remaining games and look at other teams result for their qualification to the playoff stages.
