ToggleIf there could be the smartest buy in the whole IPL history, perhaps, it would be the signing of Yuvraj Singh by Mumbai Indians, as far as his stature as a player is concerned. Mumbai Indians grabbed his services in the second round for his base price of INR 1 Crore. Meanwhile, Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings react to the signing.
Mumbai Indians owner Akash Ambani said the three-time champions weren’t expecting to buy Yuvraj Singh and Lasith Malinga at their base prices at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 auction on Tuesday in Jaipur.
Revealing the plan, he said that they wanted to get experienced players at the auction to complement the budding youngsters in their camp, Ambani said Yuvraj’s purchase at his base price of Rs 1 crore was the biggest steal in the history of the franchise’s IPL auctions.
“Yuvi [Yuvraj] and Malinga were crucial players for us at the auction. We were fortunate to get those two players. To be honest, I was thinking on the basis of experience. We retained a lot of young players. And then entering this auction, we wanted to buy a few young players but the agenda was to focus on experience a lot,” Ambani told Star Sports.
In Total, Mumbai Indians bought six players in the auction. They got uncapped Anmolpreet Singh, Pankaj Jaiswal and Rasikh Dar also joined the team along with Barinder Sran, who made his India debut in 2016.
You will be missed, Yuvraj Singh – Kings XI Punjab
Earlier, Kings XI Punjab bagged the services of Yuvraj Singh for IPL 2018. However, it wasn’t a happy return to the home for the southpaw, who failed to make it count. Repeatedly, he tasted failures to be out from the playing XI. Meanwhile, it would be interesting to see how Yuvraj Singh performs for Mumbai.
Congrats, @YUVSTRONG12 on all the new challenges ahead of you!
You will surely be missed, Southpaw! ?
