IPL 2019: Kings XI Punjab Is Confident to Break the Jinx – Ankit Rajpoot
Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) fast bowler Ankit Rajpoot is confident that his side will end the title draft in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Besides, he is also keen to share the new ball with India fast bowler Mohammed Shami. The Bengal pacer has changed his base from Delhi to Punjab and Rajpoot is looking forward to learning from him.
The young fast bowler Ankit Rajpoot has time and again emerged as future talent. His pace and accurate line and length has often earned him praise from pundits. Rajpoot shared his praise on Mohammed Shami and admitted that he is ready to shoulder bowling responsibilities with him. Previously, Rajpoot has worked in close quarters with Shami at the National Cricket Academy and during India’s tour of South Africa.
“He (Shami is a great bowler and there is a lot to learn from him. I got the chance to spend time with him at the NCA (National Cricket Academy) and then on India’s tour of South Africa. It is going to be a good experience, sharing the ball with him in IPL 2019. I am ready to shoulder bowling responsibilities with Shami,” Rajpoot told Timesofindia.com.
Punjab keen to break the jinx
Ankit Rajpoot had an impressive Ranji Trophy season, in which he claimed 42 wickets in 8 matches, including three five-wicket hauls. The Uttar Pradesh bowler was also in good form in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament, claiming 14 wickets in 9 games. He was the highest wicket-taker for Uttar Pradesh. The 25-year-old Ankit Rajpoot is keen to use his experience from the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in the IPL.
“I want to carry on the same show in IPL too. I will go in with the same strategy,” he said.
Furthermore, Ankit Rajpoot also added that Kings XI Punjab have a balanced side and a good skipper. They have some quality players in their ranks who are confident of ending the draft for the franchise. The fast bowler from Uttar Pradesh bagged 11 wickets, including one five-wicket haul in the eight games he played last season.
“We have a more balanced side compared to last year. First, we have a good captain in Ashwin. We have players like Nicolas Pooran, Mohammed Shami, Andre Tye, Arshdeep Singh, Moises Henriques and Mandeep Singh who are all match-winners. We have many options for the team. I am confident that KXIP will win the title this year,” Rajpoot signed off.
Kings XI Punjab will begin their campaign against Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on March 25.
