The schedule for the IPL 2019 (first two weeks) and 2019 World Cup is out, and now the BCCI has time to look into the workload management of the players. Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) CEO, Venky Mysore spoke on the same in regards to Kuldeep Yadav and Dinesh Karthik – two players who could be part of India’s 15-man World Cup squad.

BCCI didn’t direct any guidelines

The BCCI is yet to guide the franchises over the roles of players who stay in line for a World Cup call. As there could be a three-week gap between two events, Venky feels the pressure would not be there on the players.

“We have not heard any such thing from them (BCCI). The tournament is finishing early enough. If May 12 is the final and India plays its first game on June 5, I think there is enough of a gap. But we have not had any such guidance or instruction,” Mysore said on the sidelines of the Mayors Cup at Eden Gardens here.

Venky Mysore spoke on the same after chief selector, MSK Prasad had said the board is in talks with various franchises over managing the workload of 18 core players for cricket’s showpiece event. When asked what would be his reaction if such a situation arises, Venky said,

“It’s a hypothetical question to be honest. I don’t think it will arise. The cricketers feel that it is always better to playing competitive cricket than having net sessions.”

“The way it plays out, the final is only for two teams on the 12th. So it’s not like that everyone will be involved for so long. It depends on which teams make it all way. I think its all going to work out well.”

KKR’s pre-tournament camp scheduled for the second week of March

The IPL 2019 begins on March 23rd with defending champions, Chennai Super Kings taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore in Chennai. On the other hand, the 2019 World Cup will start on May 30th; India will face South Africa in their first match on June 5th.

Meanwhile, Venky shed light on the preparations of the side ahead of the forthcoming IPL 2019 and also revealed dates about the pre-tournament camp.

“We are still trying to figure it out because a lot of it depends on player availability,” he said. “Players have different domestic and international commitments. Ideally, we target at least 10 days before the start of the tournament. So it can 12th or 13th of March,” Mysore concluded.
