Mumbai Indians (MI) secured an impressive 46-run victory on last Friday (26th April) night when they beat the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chepauk, Chennai).

MI was restricted to 155/4 (20 overs) after the CSK stand-in captain Suresh Raina decided to bowl first. However, the home team CSK failed to chase that target as they were bundled out for just 109 runs (17.4 overs).

Also, it is the second best bowling figures by an MI bowler at MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chepauk, Chennai). Meanwhile, it is also the third-best bowling figures by an MI bowler against CSK at any venue.

i) The left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner had the bowling figures of 4-0-13-2 with an impressive economy rate of 3.25.  It is the best economical bowling performance by a CSK bowler against MI who finished his four overs quota in a match. The previous record holders were Ben Hilfenhaus (4-1-14-2) and Mohit Sharma (4-0-14-4) with the economy rates of 3.50. Meanwhile, Santner’s latest bowling performance is also the second-best economical bowling performance by a left-arm bowler against MI who finished his four overs quota in a match. The record is 4-1-12-1 with the economy rate of 3.00 by Irfan Pathan (Delhi Daredevils) at Mumbai on 16th April 2012.

ii) Murali Vijay becomes the fourth batsman to score 1,000+ T20 runs at MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chepauk, Chennai). Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni and Michael Hussey were the first three cricketers to achieve this feat. By the end of this match, Murali Vijay has scored 1,027 T20 runs at this venue.
