The last match of the group stages of this edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings on May 5 (Sunday) will have no bearing in the qualifications for the playoffs. The last time both these teams clashed, Chennai had the last laugh beating Punjab by 22 runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Being a dead rubber, both the teams will look to test their bench strength. However, Chennai will not try and test much as they will look to keep their confidence high ahead of the playoffs. The team have consistently played as a unit with each player backing his teammate led by MS Dhoni. There were some concerns over his fitness ahead of the last game, but Dhoni outing showed he is in good touch.

On the other hand, Kings XI Punjab is the only team to change their playing XI in all the games, and they will not like to break that record. The team has lacked consistency, and the middle-order has not performed upto the mark. Also, overseas bowlers like Andre Tye, who was a star last year, had an awful tournament this time. The Ravichandran Ashwin-led side will look to finish another poor edition on a high.
