Mitchell McClenaghan had a great time when he was associated with the Mumbai Indians in the 9th and 10th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL). However, the franchise overlooked his excellent performances by leaving him in IPL 2018 auctions. Later, they brought him back as the replacement for injured Jason Behrendorff.
Speaking of the same, Mitchell McClenaghan doesn’t want to be a replacement option in the Indian Premier League. He wants to be the specialist bowler, who would get picked right in the auctions itself when IPL 2019 nears.
Hopefully, I will get a proper chance – Mitchell McClenaghan
The Kiwi Pacer prepares his schedule for the upcoming season. He is currently part of Afghanistan Premier League and wants to take the appropriate rest before playing for Auckland Aces in the prestigious Super Smash tournament.
He wants to make use of those tournaments before hitting the auction screen in IPL 2019. McClenaghan is also clear he wants to be the primary option for the franchises rather than the replacement choice.
”I am looking forward to spending time at home this summer in New Zealand. The idea is to play some 50-over cricket and then join my team Auckland Aces for the 2018-2019 season of Super Smash. This is a young side so I am hoping to get stuck in there and helping them out by bringing all my experience to bear,” he said to the reporters.
”After that, I am looking to get back into IPL for the 2019 edition of the tournament. I was brought in as a replacement for injured Jason Behrendorff by the Mumbai Indians in 2018 but hopefully I will get a proper chance and be picked as an overseas bowler next time,” Mitchell McClenaghan concluded.
However, it seems like Mitchell McClenaghan is pretty determined to raise his game before the start of IPL 2019 auctions. Of late, his form is hitting the downside bar, which should not be the case during the auction time.
