IPL 2019: MS Dhoni Has Been Consistent With His Game Strategies - Suresh Raina

From the Indian National Cricket team to Chennai Super Kings (CSK), MS Dhoni has been a key figure. Besides his batting skills, his ability to read match situations and help his bowlers from behind the stumps are noteworthy. Meanwhile, this is has been evident once again in the first two fixtures of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). Suresh Raina who has played most of his cricket with Dhoni hailed the latter’s leadership abilities.

MS Dhoni is the only cricketer who has won all the three ICC Trophies – ICC World T20 in 20017, ICC World Cup in 2011, and ICC Champions Trophy in 2013. He is arguably the best skipper India have ever produced. Moreover, he has also led Chennai Super Kings to three IPL titles along with Mumbai Indians. He has once again started on a brilliant note in pursuit of their title defence. Suresh Raina in an interview said that Dhoni’s biggest strength is his ability to stay in the present and improvise on the spot looking at how the game is panning out, even in a fast-paced format like T20 cricket.

Having watched MS Dhoni from close quarters, Raina believes that Dhoni’s strategic skills put him a step above rest.

“Every captain is unique and they all bring their interesting set of skills to the game. Having said that, Dhoni has been consistent with his impressive game strategies and that has converted to multiple wins over the years,” he said.

Looking for a double: Raina

In addition, Suresh Raina said that they are looking forward to making a double in this season of IPL. Chennai Super Kings produced a stunning return to the league after two years suspension. They will be keen to win the title twice in a row – previously they won it in 2010 and 2011.

Speaking about his role, the southpaw said that being with CSK for almost ten years, he brings a sense of calmness to the side. In conclusion, Suresh Raina said that it is his job to keep the team together during tough situations.

“We are high on determination right now. We have a big responsibility to shoulder this season and that thought alone has guided our practice sessions thus far. It’s been almost a decade for me with CSK and what I bring to the team is patience and the ability to keep it together during pressure situations,” he concluded.
