Mumbai Indians (MI) all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been astounding form in this edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). His blistering knock at the death overs has been the highlight of Mumbai’s success in the IPL 2019. Senior Mumbai cricketer Kieron Pollard has hailed the young all-rounder saying that Hardik packs a lot of punch.

Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya was not in a good frame of mind ahead of the start of the IPL. Marred with injuries and controversies, many thought Pandya’s performance graph would take a dip. But, he proved everybody wrong and has been in a scintillating form which will be a massive boost for the Indian National Cricket team. The Baroda all-rounder sustained a back injury during the Asia Cup and subsequently missed the series against Australia. He returned during the ODI series against only to get suspended for his lured comments on a talk show.

Evolving as a cricketer

After a brief period, he returned during the ODI series in New Zealand, only to suffer another injury to miss the next series against Australia at home. However, Hardik Pandya recovered well in time to be available in the IPL from the start. So far he has scored 355 runs from just 12 matches at a strike-rate of 198 and has also chipped in with ten wickets. Recently, he struck a 34-ball 91 runs and, in the process, registered the fastest fifty of the season.

Kieron Pollard shared high praise on Hardik Pandya saying that he can hit the ball long way despite having short stature. The Windies all-rounder is confident that Pandya is evolving every day and he will do great things for Mumbai and the Indian team both.

He is a small guy but hits (the ball) a long way. And again once he continues to practice well and continue to evolve as a cricketer, you can see him doing great things not only for Mumbai Indians but by extension Indian cricket,” said Pollard.

Kieron Pollard also added that Hardik Pandya is not doing anything special at the nets. However, he has the self-belief and confidence in himself and is trying to express himself in the middle. Mumbai Indians will want Pandya to keep up the good work as the tournament inches towards its business end.
