Apart from his heroics with the bat, Hardik Pandya has provided significant breakthroughs in the middle overs for Mumbai Indians. Yesterday, he did an excellent job to contain the Kolkata Knight Riders batting. Chris Lynn went berserk in the powerplay before two quick wickets from Pandya changed the course of the game. He removed both the openers – Lynn and Shubman Gill to bring back Mumbai in the game. The home side then knocked out the Knight Riders bowling them out for 130 before chasing it down with nine wickets in hand.

Mahela Jayawardene hailed Hardik Pandya who bagged the man of the match award for his efforts with the ball. The former Sri Lanka skipper pointed out that Hardik has improved different aspects of his game this year which have made the job of the bowler difficult.

“More than technically it was about his (Hardik’s) temperament, be patient rather than force the issues. With Hardik, it is about holding his shape pretty much (and) he has got a lot of power going forward. It is not just one area where he has improved this year, he is hitting at different pockets, so it is very difficult for bowlers to bowl to him,” explained Jayawardene.

Mahela Jayawardene also added that it is not an easy job to come down the order and score quick runs. He said that Hardik Pandya had adapted well in that position and they are happy with the progress young Pandya has made. So far, Pandya has picked 14 wickets and amassed 380 runs from 14 matches including a 34-ball 91 against the Kolkata Knight Riders.
