To make a debut in the Indian Premier League at the age of 16 years is stunning. And if you make that debut under the leadership of current Indian skipper Virat Kohli, it adds cherry at the cake. Prayas Barman is only 16 years old and he has to manage cricket with his studies as he is still in 12th class.

Meanwhile, the youngster also revealed his favourite cricketer. Prayas Barman stated that his Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli is his favourite player in the game.

Prayas Barman said while talking to Mid-Day, “Of course, it has to be Virat Kohli. I have been following his game since he made his debut and he’s been a revelation since then. The way he pursues cricket, the fitness he possesses, and his passion and love for the game are just unbelievable. He teaches us all these things. I haven’t seen it before and after meeting him, I have started respecting him even more”.

On the other hand, Barman made his debut against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The youngster did not have the best of debuts as he conceded 56 runs in his four overs quota as Jonny Bairstow and David Warner were going all guns blazing. Furthermore, the 16-year scored 19 runs from 24 balls with the help of two fours.

“We were not in a great position when I came in to bowl my first over. David Warner and Jonny Bairstow were going great guns. Of course, there was a little bit of pressure but I didn’t feel it that much because the team wanted me to deliver. I just tried to express myself”.

Meanwhile, Prayas Barman also revealed that he used to carry his books. In fact, the youngster used to study during the rest period of the team.

“I was just carrying my books and when there was no practice I used to be at my hotel room studying. It wasn’t that easy. It was kind of harsh to study during the rest period. I just had to manage somehow”.

It must have been a great experience for the 16-year old to play under the tutelage of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. Barman is eyeing a spot in the Under-19 World Cup squad and he is a bright star in the making.
