IPL 2019: Rohit Sharma Recalls When he was Appointed Mumbai Indians Captain

Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma is one of the most successful captains in the folklore of the IPL. Rohit Sharma was handed over the captaincy baton in 2013 when Ricky Ponting failed to deliver the goods. Subsequently, Rohit Sharma was able to change the tide in his team’s favour after the team didn’t got off to an ideal start.

Rohit Sharma will have a chance to add one more to his cabinet as Mumbai Indians will take on defending champions Chennai Super Kings in the final at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad on 12th May.

Rohit Sharma has led with aplomb.

Rohit Sharma said while talking on Twitter handler of Mumbai Indians, “When I got to know about captaining Mumbai Indians in 2013, it was so tough and I knew it is not going to be easy. I knew that. Captaining Mumbai Indians has a different challenge. We have seen a lot of tough situations in which most of the teams would have tended to just drift away but this team stayed together when the time was tough. One good thing about MI is there is a lot of encouragement, whether we have lost the game or we have won the game”.

Rohit Sharma added, “You need each other support at the time and every time when you get into those phases of the tournament. So I think I had that. It was not easy and we have seen that when we have won the trophy, it was only with the support of my teammates, support staff and owners. It was so eventful”.

Mumbai Indians is once again right on the money in the ongoing season. They had finished at the top of the points table with 18 points under their bag. Mumbai Indians has also defeated Chennai Super Kings on three occasions in this season and they would like to continue their domination against the reigning champions.

In fact, Rohit Sharma has led the team with confidence and the results have been palpable. Mumbai Indians had also become the first team to win 100 matches in the IPL. Rohit Sharma has lead Mumbai Indians in 103 matches in which he has won 59 and has lost 42 with two been no results. Thus, he has an impressive winning percentage of 58.25.
