Former Indian National Cricket team skipper Sourav Ganguly seemed unimpressed with reports suggesting that fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah might miss the Indian Premier League before the ICC World Cup.

Meanwhile, Bumrah, who has been in the form of his life, recently helped India take a 2-1 lead in Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He bagged nine wickets including a six-wicket haul to win the man of the match award. However, the selectors are looking to manage the workload of their star pacers ahead of the mega event in June.

As a result, BCCI rested Jasprit Bumrah from the ODI series against Windies last year. And now, as per reports, BCCI is urging Mumbai Indians to leave out Bumrah to provide enough rest to the fast bowler before the premier tournament in England and Wales. However, this didn’t impress Sourav Ganguly, and he said that picking Bumrah for the ODIs against New Zealand was a right decision.

We should definitely play him against New Zealand at least they are a strong side unlike the current hosts Australia. And I’m sure that the Mumbai Indians won’t be willing to rest him at the marquee tournament,” Ganguly said to India TV.

In addition to, Sourav Ganguly admitted that he is young and is raring to go, so he should get maximum games possible.

There is no doubt that he is an exceptional talent. But I saw news of him being rested keeping in mind the World Cup. I don’t think that should be followed in entirety. He is not a Kapil Dev who has played 125 Test matches. He is young and raring to go,” Ganguly concluded.
