Sunrisers Hyderabad made light work of Delhi Capitals, beating them by 5 wickets to register their third win of the season in four games.

Fresh off scoring 231 in their previous game,  Sunrisers Hyderabad came out all guns blazing in pursuit of a modest 130. Their openers Jonny Bairstow and David Warner shared a fifty-plus stand for the fourth game in a row this season. Bairstow, who had scored 114 in the previous game, took the attack to Delhi while Warner, who too had scored a ton in the last game, played the second fiddle.

Any chances of Delhi’s comeback was very much over by the time the powerplay ended. At the end of the 6th over, Sunrisers Hyderabad had raced away to 62 for no loss with Bairstow scoring 47 of those runs.

Delhi Capitals then removed both the openers in quick succession to reduce the visitors to 68 for 2 from 64 for no loss. However, with not much on the scoreboard, Sunrisers eventually chased down the total inside 19 overs.

Earlier in the game, Delhi Capitals’ exciting batting lineup came a cropper against the formidable attack of Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Shreyas Iyer-led side could manage to score just 129 for 8 in the allotted 20 overs. Asked to bat first, Delhi never looked like putting up a good total. They lost wickets at regular intervals and were eventually restricted to a paltry total. Prithvi Shaw started off well by hitting two boundaries before Bhuvneshwar Kumar sent him back.

Shikhar Dhawan’s lean patch continued as he too departed cheaply, leaving Delhi Capitals reeling at 36 for 2. Captain Shreyas Iyer held firm from one end, scoring 43 but found little support from the other end. Rishabh Pant, Rahul Tewatia and Colin Ingram all departed after scoring 5 each as Delhi found themselves reeling at 75 for 5 in the fourteenth over. Chris Morris (17) and Axar Patel (23*) then came up with handy cameos to guide Delhi to a respectable total.
