IPL 2019: Twitter Goes Berserk As Ajinkya Rahane Smashes Stunning Ton
Updated - 08 Oct 2019, 03:16 PM
The last few days were absolutely horrific for Ajinkya Rahane. His poor form in the ongoing Indian Premier League started the chain of bad news that were to struck him this month. He first failed to make it to India’s World Cup squad. Last week, Rajasthan Royals sacked him as their captain and replaced him with Steve Smith. Rahane was making it to the news for all the wrong reasons. There were also calls to drop him from the playing eleven of Royals.

However, just when everybody had written him of at least for the ongoing season, Rahane showed his class on Monday. Up against Delhi Capitals, the India Test vice-captain roared back to form by smashing his second ton in IPL. Rahane made his intentions clear by hitting the second ball of the innings for a four and never looked back since then. By the time the powerplay ended, he had raced away to 40 – his highest powerplay total this season. In fact, Rahane’s 40 is also the highest score by an Indian in the powerplay this season.
Rahane reached his fifty off 32 balls and took another 26 balls to enter the triple-digit mark. The knock was studded with 11 fours and three sixes.

Congrats to classy gentleman @ajinkyarahane88 on his 2nd #IPL century??.. #Rahane #RRvDC.. Today he has been in a 'zone' after that very simple dropped catch by Ishant Sharma..

Marvellous century by @ajinkyarahane88 has been the highlight of Rajasthan’s batting. Would India’s selectors have been impressed had he had shown such form at the start of the season I wonder

Always a pleasure to watch Rahane score runs. Has always been classy. Too bad BCCI chose Jadeja over Rahane. There's no way you gonna play Jadeja when you have Shankar/Pandya/Kuldeep/Chahal. #RRvDC
