Royal Challengers Bangalore, on Friday, beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 10 runs to register their second win of the season in nine games. The Knight Riders, on the other hand, suffered their fifth defeat of the season and the fourth in a row.  It was yet another run feast between the two teams as both the sides scored more than 200. Asked to bat first, the Royal Challengers overcame a slow start to post a daunting 213 for 4 in the allotted 20 overs.

Skipper Virat Kohli starred with the bat by scoring 100 which was fifth IPL ton. Kohli reached his fifty off 40 balls but accelerated soon and scored the next 50 runs in just 17 deliveries before being dismissed on the final ball of the innings. But it was Moeen Ali who provided the Royal Challengers with the impetus by hammering 65 from 28 deliveries. Royal Challengers scored as many as 93 runs in the final five overs.

In reply, the Knight Riders were off to a poor star before Nitish Rana and Andre Russell joined hands. The two added 118 from just 48 deliveries and nearly took the Knight Riders over the line. Eventually, the two-time winners ended up on 203. Rana remained unbeaten on 85 while Russell hammered 65 from just 25.

The result of the game, nonetheless, has not changed the positions in the standings. While Royal Challengers remain rooted at the bottom with just 2 wins in nine games, the Knight Riders remained at sixth with 4 wins in 9 games. Defending champions Chennai Super Kings remain at the top with 7 wins from 9 games.
