It’s all over for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as the finish the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) at the bottom of the table. However, they have spoiled the party of Sunrisers Hyderabad beating them in the last league game to make their qualification tough. Following another mediocre season, former Royal Challengers Bangalore owner Vijay Mallya admitted that this side only looks good on paper.

Bangalore got off to the worst possible start to this season. They lost six matches on a trot before tasting some victory in the second half of the tournament. Royal Challengers Bangalore tasted their first win against Kings XI Punjab to secure the first points before going down against Mumbai Indians. The arrival of fast bowler Dale Steyn changed the course as the Virat Kohli-led side to register three straight wins over Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab. However, they went down against Delhi Capitals by 16 runs before sharing a point with Rajasthan Royals to bow out of the tournament.

Meanwhile, this adds to Royal Challengers Bangalore’s long wait to progress to the playoffs. The last time they qualified from the group stages was in 2016 when Virat Kohli registered 973 runs in one season including four centuries but couldn’t take his side all the way.

Following their poor stint, Vijay Mallya who has left India after eating up crores of money of the general public seemed devastated. Although the Bangalore management have removed from all the post, it seems like Mallya hasn’t forgotten his old team.
