With the twelfth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) just a handful of days away from getting underway, the excitement is reaching the highest level. Last month, the BCCI released the schedule of the first 17 games while the whole schedule is still subject to the announcement of the Lok Sabha election dates.Once the election date is announced, the BCCI will address any issues with the first two weeks and will also prepare a schedule for the remainder of the season working with the local authorities around the polling dates.

This is the first time the IPL is being held entirely in India despite the elections. In 2009, the BCCI had shifted the whole tournament to South Africa. Five years later, the initial part of the tournament was played in UAE before returning to India.
